CÉSAR MENÉNDEZ
César Menéndez, one of the most important artists in Latin America, lives and creates in El Salvador from his residence outside the capital, San Salvador. He had his first solo exhibition of him in 1976 at Banco Atlacatl in San Salvador. His surrealist paintings have themes of magical realism, love and longing, scenes from the spiritual worlds, triumphs and conflicts of the mind and society. Menéndez was made a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government in 1994.
His group shows include: 2002, Los Angeles Art Show, LA, California; 2000, Art Miami; 1999, "Tribute to the Pencil", José Luis Cuevas Museum, Mexico City; Art Miami; Sotheby's Latin American Auction, New York; "Latin American Spectrum", Espacio Gallery, San Salvador, El Salvador; 1998, Sotheby's Latin America Auction, New York; Gary Nader Latin American Auction, Miami; "Anthology of Peace", Anfora Nova Space, Madrid, Spain. His work is in museums and private collections around the world.
